Thank You for Being our Guest!
We’re so excited to have you join us on Our Next Chapter. The heart of our show is casual conversation about writing, storytelling, and the big (and small) life moments that shape us. We’re aiming for a fun, relaxed chat—around 30-45 minutes or so. Nothing too formal, just the kind of honest conversation you’d have with friends over coffee (or wine… no judgment).
The Questions
Our podcast follows our journey as a couple writing a romance novel together for the first time. But Our Next Chapter means more than just writing; it’s also about this stage of life we’re in. As married parents raising two teenage boys, we’re figuring out what comes next for us as partners and family.
So when we talk to guests, we’re curious about how your creative process works, what inspires you, and what you’ve learned along the way. We might also ask about your own family life and how you make time to write. Below are a few themes we might explore during your interview:
-
We want to get to know the person behind the pages. Your background, your personality, and what shaped you as a creator.
Example Questions:How would you describe yourself to someone who’s never met you?
Was there a moment in your life that set you on your creative path?
-
Every writer has their “why.” We want to hear what drives you to put words on the page, and what keeps you coming back.
Example Questions:What made you want to tell stories in the first place?
Do you write for yourself first, or for your readers?
-
From the first spark of an idea to a finished piece, we love hearing how creators work.
Example Questions:Do you start with characters, plot, or theme?
Are you a detailed outliner or a “let’s see where this goes” writer?
-
Life doesn’t stop for creativity, especially with family, work, and other commitments in the mix. We’ll talk about how you juggle it all.
Example Questions:How do you carve out writing time in your day?
Have your family or friends inspired elements of your stories?
-
Every project has its bumps in the road. We’ll dive into the obstacles you’ve faced and the wins that kept you going.
Example Questions:What’s the biggest creative challenge you’ve overcome?
Was there a moment when a story finally “clicked” for you?
-
Since we’re on our own writing journey, we’re always looking to learn from others who’ve been there.
Example Questions:If you could give one piece of advice to your past self as a writer, what would it be?
What’s something you wish more writers talked about openly?
